Starting a career in the Merchant Navy involves several important stages, from initial registration and eligibility screening to medical examination, documentation, institute mapping and final joining.

01. Aspirant Registration

Step 1 • Registration

First, register yourself for the Merchant Navy admission process. Fill in your basic details and get your NAF ID.

02. Eligibility Check

Step 2 • Check Eligibility

Your age, education and course choice are checked. This helps confirm if you can move ahead in the admission process.

03. Aptitude Screening

Step 3 • Aptitude Check

A basic aptitude check is done to understand your preparation, awareness and suitability for a Merchant Navy career.

04. Career Counselling

Step 4 • Counselling

You get simple guidance about Merchant Navy life, work at sea, departments, career options and important things you should know.

05. Fee & Consent

Step 5 • Fee Process

After the required formalities, the applicable fee details are explained and payment is completed through the proper process.

06. Medical Check-up

Step 6 • Medical

You need to complete your medical examination through a DG Shipping-approved medical examiner as required.

07. Document Verification

Step 7 • Documents

Your required documents are collected and checked. Your complete admission file is then prepared.

08. MTI Selection

Step 8 • Institute Selection

A suitable DG Shipping-approved Maritime Training Institute (MTI) is selected based on course, location, intake and other requirements.

09. Joining Guidance

Step 9 • Pre-Joining

Before joining, you get guidance about the reporting date, documents, travel, hostel, kit and other joining needs.

10. Final Handover to MTI

Step 10 • Admission Complete

After completing the required steps, your final admission details and documents are handed over to the selected MTI for joining.
